WHO ARE WE?

We were incorporated in July 2011, as a Community Interest Company with the sole intention of providing services and improving amenities for the Parish of Rye, East Sussex.  Our first project was always intended to be the devolution of the 2 allotment sites in Rye, in the event that Rye Town Council and Rother District Council could not come to an agreement over the sites.  We have now been awarded a 25 year lease for the 2 sites as of 1st December 2013.

We are pleased with this decision because our Directors have always been of the view that the allotments in Rye should be under local management and control.

Where possible, we will use local labour and work with local companies and organisations to assist us with this function and to help keep money within the local economy.

Rye Amenity CIC, like all CICs, is a limited company with special additional features, created for the specific aim of conducting business for community benefit and not purely for private advantage.  In becoming registered the Rye Amenity CIC has had to pass the "community interest test" and has an "asset lock", which ensures that the CIC is established for community purposes.  In our case the "asset lock" is in favour of Rye Town Council.
